Not only is the above quote wrong, it's obviously designed to be wrong. "Work-life balance" is a myth, though it's one that everyone but the people who create the myths seem to believe. The basis of work-life balance is that you can get a job that allows you to have a life outside of your work, but you need to be at work early or late or on weekends to make sure that your life runs smoothly. This is obviously impossible in most jobs, especially when they are full-time and in-house.
It’s also impossible in most businesses. The person in charge of the company and their family must be in charge of the business and themselves. That’s why we have companies with multiple owners and businesses run by family members rather than just one person, even if they do most of the work themselves.
If I’m not at work when I’m supposed to be working, I don’t want to work. If my kids are at school and I can’t drop them off when I’m supposed to pick them up, I don’t want to pick them up.
